[ARCHIVED] WFR responds to cooking fire and Automobile fire

WFR responded to a cooking fire at 164 13 St NE at 1748 to find that smoke from burnt food had set off the alarm system in the apartment building. No fire was discovered and the smoke was cleared from the building.
Later we responded to a vehicle fire at 400 9 St NE at 2342. Firefighters found an SUV with the engine compartment fully engulfed. Firefighters quickly extinguished the vehicle fire which was outside but close to the home. No other damge was found however the vehicle was considered a total lose. With the first cold spell of the winter, remember to use caution and allow extra time for warming up vehicles and traveling on slippery roads. BC McElhany.
