IMG_2191

Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a tractor trailer that was leaking fuel from a saddle tank on Thursday, January 16th around 12:45 pm. The tractor trailer was traveling northbound on I-29 when the driver lost control of the semi, drove through the median, and jack-knifed in the south bound lanes. The driver was able to straighten the tractor to not impede traffic, but did puncture the fuel tank. WFR responded with Engine 1 with two crew members to assess and mitigate further leaks. WFR remained on scene for nearly an hour. SDHP, Performance Towing, and Codington County Emergency Management assisted with the incident.

Please remember to drive cautiously when road conditions are unfavorable. Slow down and move over for emergency lights so everybody can reach their destination safely.
