[ARCHIVED] WFR responds to a vehicle vs deer with the occupant reporting injuries

Engine 3

On October 20th at approximately 12:30 p.m., Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle vs. deer accident on U.S. Highway 212 near mile marker 369. The vehicle's occupant reported injuries.

Engine 3 and Medic 3 were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, crews found the vehicle on the shoulder of the westbound lane. While there were no fluids or debris requiring cleanup, the vehicle sustained significant front-end damage.

Engine 3 remained on scene to provide traffic control and assisted Medic 3 with patient assessment and packaging. The driver of the sedan was transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation.

Watertown Fire Rescue reminds all drivers that deer activity is increasing during this time of year. Please exercise caution—especially at dawn and dusk—wear your seatbelt, remain vigilant, and avoid swerving erratically to miss wildlife.
