Early Saturday morning, at about 6:20am, Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a house fire on south Maple Street. Upon arrival, the fire had already vented and was actively burning on the exterior of the home. Crews made entry to do a primary search and found the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. After the initial search was complete, firefighters were able to concentrate on extinguishing the fire. Knockdown was achieved within 5 minutes of FD arrival, and the fire was held to the main floor kitchen/living room area, the same as it's origin. The cause of the fire was undetermined at time of press release. Crews were on scene for about an hour. No injuries were reported.
