[ARCHIVED] Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Injury Crash

On Friday, October 10th, 2025 at approximately 2:29 PM, the Watertown Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in the 600 block of 9th Ave. SE (US HWY 212).  The initial investigation revealed that a 22-year-old female from Peever, SD began crossing 9th Ave. SE northbound in the middle of the block when she was struck by an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 71-year-old male from Watertown, SD. Alcohol or speed are not believed to be factors in this crash. The 22-year-old female was transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Suburban was towed away from the scene and had sustained approximately $2,500 in damage. The crash remains under investigation by the Watertown Police Department. The Watertown Police Department was assisted on the scene by Watertown Fire Rescue. Traffic was disrupted at the scene for approximately 45 minutes.
