[ARCHIVED] Downtown Street Sweeping 'No Parking' Reminder

The City of Watertown is reminding drivers to follow the posted “No Parking” signs downtown during street sweeping hours.

Street sweeping helps keep downtown streets clean, extends the life of pavement, and prevents localized flooding by clearing debris from storm drains.

To allow crews to sweep curb to curb, no parking is allowed on downtown streets from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Wednesdays and on downtown avenues from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Thursdays. Vehicles parked during posted sweeping times are subject to a $15 ticket.

The City’s goal is full compliance, allowing sweeping to be completed efficiently. Downtown sweeping is now a regular service, and no additional notifications will be sent — posted signs serve as their reminder. Downtown street sweeping season is from May 1 to October 31 each year.
