[ARCHIVED] Watertown Fire Rescue Responds to Stove Fire

Fire Rescue Header

At approximately 4:45pm, Tuesday September 9th Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a report of a stove fire at 103 4th Street Southeast. Firefighters arrived on scene and found moderate smoke coming from the main floor of a two story, two unit residence.  Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen. Fire crews entered the residence and used positive pressure fans to clear the remaining smoke. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately one hour, checking for fire extension and doing overhaul.  There were no injuries reported from the incident, and all of the home occupants were evacuated prior to firefighter's arrival.  The cause of the fire is undetermined at the time of press release, and still under investigation.  Watertown Fire Rescue would like to remind residents of the importance of fire safety, especially when cooking, which is the leading cause of residential fires. During the month of October we will observe Fire Prevention Week-- a good reminder to take a look at your smoke detectors and ensure they are in working order.
