[ARCHIVED] Green Yard Waste Bin Contamination

Improper items in green yard waste containers can damage composting equipment, lower the quality, and increase the cost of the compost we provide to residents.

Do NOT place these in your yard waste bin:

  • · Rocks, dirt, wood, or any kind of plastic
  • · Garden hoses, trash
  • · Tree branches, balls, or plastic bags
  • · Any material that isn’t grass, leaves, or small garden trimmings

What IS allowed:

  • · Grass clippings
  • · Leaves
  • · Small garden vegetation
  • · Twigs (no thicker than a pencil)

Before setting out your container, please check it carefully. If non-yard waste items or oversized branches are found—or even if small twigs are sticking out above the rim—your container will not be emptied.

By keeping yard waste clean, we protect composting equipment, reduce service disruptions, and keep costs low for everyone. Let’s work together to protect this valuable service for our community. Thank you for doing your part!
