Emerald ash borer (EAB) has been confirmed in Watertown, South Dakota. A public information meeting will be held on Thursday, June 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Codington County Extension Complex (1910 West Kemp). Please use Entrance I on the south side of the building.
Forestry experts from the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources and SDSU Cooperative Extension will explain why EAB is a threat to local ash trees, how to identify signs of infestation, and what treatment or removal options are available. The meeting will also cover how the state’s quarantine impacts the movement of ash wood and hardwood firewood out of Codington County. A Q&A session will follow the presentations.
