[ARCHIVED] WFR responded to a single vehicle accident

On the icy morning of April 3 at approximately 0400 hours, WFR responded to a single vehicle accident located near the intersection of US Hwy 20 and Sioux Conifer Rd. Crews found a Ford Ranger resting on its passenger side. The vehicle was in a ditch that was holding about two feet of standing water. Pt was able to self-extricate from the vehicle with the assistance of a bystander. Medic 5 responded and did evaluate the patient. Paramedics found no obvious life-threatening injuries, and the patient refused transport to Prairie Lakes Hospital. Engine 4 crew remained on-scene to assist Performance Towing with the removal of the vehicle and provide traffic protection due to the icy conditions. Additional agencies on-scene included Codington County Sheriff’s Department, and Watertown Police Department.
