At approximately 1:30 PM on February 7th, Watertown Fire Rescue’s Brush 3 and Tender 1 responded to a pasture fire in south east Codington County. Upon arrival, firefighters found local farmers already on the scene, using a tractor and hand tools to help control the blaze.
Watertown Fire Rescue quickly took action to contain the fire. Fire units remained on scene for just over an hour to ensure the fire was extinguished and no flare-ups occurred.
Watertown Fire Rescue extends its thanks to the farmers and the Sheriff's Department for their quick response and valuable support in managing the situation. WFR would like to remind the public of the dry fire conditions and to keep a watchful eye on burn pits.
