WFR Responded to a Grass Fire in multiple locations and assists with drop deck flatbed trailer hay bale fire on the interstate. WFR responded to a reported grass fire in Codington County on I-29's southbound lane, mile marker 172 . There was a separate grass fire reported at mile marker 167 in Hamlin county, along with a drop deck flatbed trailer on fire that was loaded with square hay bales. WFR responded with a Water Tender and 2 brush trucks to the grass fire. The two grass fires were quickly extinguished. All units then assisted Castlewood Fire with the trailer fire. The following departments assisted in traffic control and extinguishment; Codington County Sheriffs deputies, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Watertown Fire, Castlewood Fire, and Performance Towing. Crews were on scene for over 3 hours and the south bound lane of I-29 was shut down for short periods of times while a payloader and telehandler were used to remove bails into the ditch of the southbound lane.
