[ARCHIVED] WFR responds to single vehicle incident on Highway 212

Watertown, SD – October 23, 2024 – At approximately 3:39 PM, Watertown Fire Rescue (WFR) was dispatched to a single vehicle incident involving a SUV/Crossover that struck a light pole on Highway 212, in front of 1313 9th Avenue Southwest.

Upon arrival, WFR crews found the vehicle in the north side ditch after it had traveled westbound at highway speeds before colliding with the pole. Paramedics immediately assessed the driver on scene. The driver was later transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital for further evaluation, while the passenger did not require medical attention.

Watertown Fire Rescue would like to thank the Watertown Police Department, Municipal Utilities, and Active Towing for their valuable assistance during this incident.

WFR would like to emphasize the importance of safe driving and urges all motorists to remain vigilant while on the road.
