WFR was called to a house fire with people inside at 1138 am today. The home was located at 44570 177th St which is just NW of Grover. Initial call reported 4 people in the home. Upon arrival we found that 3 people had gotten out on their own but one was still inside the home. WFR immediately entered the home and located the person on the second floor and took them out a bedroom window and down a ladder. The person was treated in an ambulance for smoke inhalation and transported to PLH and later transferred to Hennepin Burn Center. The crews attacked the fire with the assistance from Hazel Fire and Hayti Fire Departments and was able to extinguish the fire after 4 hours. The other family members were examined but refused transfer. There were no other injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. A total of approximately 15,000 gallons were shuttled to the fire. WFR would like to thank Hazel Fire Department and Hayti Fire department with there assistance. Without there quick responses we would have not had that amount of water there when needed. Codington County Sherriff's Office also assisted with the fire. BC McElhany
