On September 21, 2024 at approximately 4:15pm, Watertown Fire Rescue (WFR) was dispatched to the intersection of US Hwy 212 and 450th Ave west of Watertown, SD for a two vehicle accident involving a semi truck and a car. WFR's Medic 5 and Engine 4 responded to the scene. Both vehicles came to a rest in the east bound ditch of Hwy 212. The semi truck had front end damage and the 4-door car had significant damage to the passenger side. The car's lone occupant was the driver which sustained critical injuries and was immediately transported by ambulance to the hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured. The South Dakota Highway Patrol and Codington County Sheriff's Department were also at the scene.
