[ARCHIVED] WFR Responds to Vehicle Fire

Engine 4

On June 7, 2024, at approximately 4:15pm, WFR was dispatched to a vehicle fire near Hometown Builders, just off of SD Highway 20.

WPD officers were first on scene and used an ABC extinguisher to knock down the flames. Upon WFR arrival, smoke was visible from the bed of a pickup truck. WFR pulled a 1 3/4" handline and proceeded to the bed of the truck where debris in the back of the truck had reignited. The firefighters used approximately 50 gallons of water to ensure the contents of the truck bed were fully extinguished.

WFR initially had two engines, one ambulance, and one command vehicle responding to the fire. One engine and the ambulance returned to their appropriate stations once the command vehicle arrived on scene. Engine four was staffed with three firefighters. WFR was on scene for approximately 20 minutes.
