Around 1 pm on April 24th, 2024, Watertown Fire Rescue responded to multiple ditch fires along 448th Avenue near 166th street. Watertown Fire Rescue responded with two brush trucks. Upon arrival, Brush units found multiple spot fires on 448th avenue. Bystanders had extinguished many of the fires prior to WFR arrival. Brush trucks used around 300 gallons of water to ensure the fires were out and cleaned up hot spots. Brush units were on scene for approximately 40 minutes. The fire appeared to have started by a tractor pulling a plow that was throwing sparks into the ditch.
