The mission of the Watertown Police Department Honor Guard is to present a professional ceremonial presence, while serving as ambassadors to the community and those who dedicated their lives to public service. The Honor Guard is activated to serve as pallbearer or as an honor unit at funerals and memorial services for actual or retired WPD employees and other law enforcement officers. The unit also performs at facility dedications, ground-breaking ceremonies, special events, parades, and other community functions.
The WPD Honor Guard was formed in 2012 and is currently comprised of seven members from various ranks throughout the department. The unit trains on a regular basis and is able to render ceremonial honors throughout the region. To request the WPD Honor Guard for an event or service, contact the WPD at (605)882-6210.
