Administrative Captain Steve Rehorst was born and raised in Fargo, ND and is a graduate of Fargo South High School. Steve holds an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, MN and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Minnesota State University Moorhead in Moorhead, MN. He began his law enforcement career with the Watertown Police Department as a patrol officer in 2003. Steve became a Field Training Officer in 2006, was assigned to Corporal in 2007, promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2008, and promoted to Captain in 2019. Steve has been a D.A.R.E. instructor since 2004 and has been the Police Training Officer Supervisor since 2010. He has also spent time as the S.W.A.T. Team Leader, Policy Committee Chairperson, Accident Investigation Team Member, Traffic Safety Team Member, and Child Car Seat Program Team Member. Steve is currently an adjunct instructor at Lake Area Tech where he teaches Patrol Procedures 1 & 2. Steve enjoys being active in the community and volunteering. Steve participates in the Watertown Fraternal Order of Police where he served as a board member from 2005 to 2008 and the Watertown 4th of July Chairperson from 2005 to 2012. He has also been active member with the South Dakota Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics since 2005. Steve enjoys volunteering as the Committee Chairperson with Watertown Cub Scout Pack 293 and delivering meals for Meals on Wheels. Steve really enjoys spending time with his family and in his free time Steve also stays active traveling, attending concerts, sporting events, bow hunting, and being outside. Steve likes to run and ride bicycle and will be participating in his first triathlon this summer.
