1st Avenue NW Railroad Crossing Closure Project

Construction on 1st Avenue NW from 3rd Street to Kemp Avenue will begin on Monday, July 24th, 2017.  The project consists of removing the existing at grade railroad crossing with 1st Avenue NW.  A cul-de-sac style turn-a-round will be constructed on the east side of the railroad tracks and the street will be abandoned between the tracks and 6th Street NW.  A new section of road will be constructed between 1st Avenue and Kemp Avenue.  The improvements include modifications of the intersection of 4th Street and Kemp Avenue.  The existing bike trail will be modified to follow the new street route. On Thursday July 20th the Contractor plans to establish a detour route which includes 3rd Street NW, 3rd Avenue NW and 10th Street NW (Hwy 20).  Please use the designated detour route with caution and respect for others.  All local businesses shall have access by alternate routes.  Please reduce speed thru the construction zone and if alternate routes are available for you to reach your destination, please consider using them. If you have questions about the project please contact the Engineering Department at City Hall.
