Watertown Fire Responds to Rural House Fire

WFR responded to a house fire about three miles southeast of Watertown at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017.

Upon arrival, crews found a fully engulfed residence.  The attached garage had already collapsed and the fire unfortunately had spread to the house.

There were three occupants home at the time of the fire, and all were able to escape.  The fire was initially discovered by a relative that was nearby, who alerted the occupants inside the home prior to reporting the fire to 911.

The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in nature originating in the garage near an outlet or close to a refrigerator and freezer.  There were no injuries to report from the fire.

Crews were on scene for approximately six hours.  WFR thanks the neighbors who were able to assist by bringing large quantities of water to the scene.

Please be cautious over the Holiday weekend and remember safety first when celebrating Independence Day.
