WFR responds to a shelter belt on fire

Watertown Fire Rescue responded to a burn pit the became out of control after jumping its banks, in the area of 166th st and 450th ave. Wednesday at 3:50 PM.  On scene with a brush truck and water tender, the fire was contained to the shelter belt and burn pit. No buildings were in immediate danger.  Less than 1 acre of trees and grass was burned.  With little rain fall this spring the grass is very dry, please use extreme caution when burning.  As a reminder burning within 1 mile of city limits requires a burn permit.
