Two Vehicle Collision Sends One Person to the Hospital

A two vehicle collision with heavy damage sends one person to Prairie Lakes Hospital.

At 22:43 - WFR  received 911 tone for a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of  9th Avenue East (Hwy 212) and 29th Street SE with reported injuries.

Engine 3 and Medic 3 were dispatched. Upon arrival find vehicle #1 - a Ford Fusion - in the intersection with heavy front end damage. Vehicle  #2 is on the side of the road , also with heavy damage to drivers side door (T-Boned).

Airbags were deployed on both vehicles. EMS is assisting patient in vehicle #1 in the intersection. Eng 3 crew checked on the driver of vehicle #2 - a Hyundai Sante Fe - driver is shaken up but declines treatment or transport.

Debris from vehicle #1 was scattered throughout entire intersection including having most of the front end ripped off the vehicle including the radiator, bumper and front quarter panel. The front right wheel along with its  drive shaft has been torn away.

Used approximately one bag of floor dry to contain oil/fluid. Weather conditions include steady rain. Medic 3 crew transported driver of vehicle #1, unknown extent of the injuries at this time. E3 crew cleaned up debris field and assisted with removal of both vehicles by towing company. Both vehicles are assumed to be a total loss. E3 crew returned to FD1.
