WFR Responds to a Vehicle Fire

Watertown Fire Rescue units responded to a reported vehicle fire at about 2100 hours Wednesday evening.

The caller reported having the fire out just prior to WFR arrival.  The vehicle was at the intersection of 3rd Ave and 3rd St NE.  The owner had been doing some work on the vehicle and was "test driving" it.

He had driven less than a block and noticed fire under the hood.  The driver stopped and extinguished the fire.  WFR arrived and verified that the fire was extinguished.

It appears that there were some leaves that may have been on the engine upon start-up that ignited.  WFR was assisted on scene by WPD.
